arrows Creation and Innovation Forum: creative industries as an engine of regional development

What role do creative industries play in the development of innovation and the regional economy? Answers will be offered at the one-day conference Forum of Creation and Innovation, which will take place on 12 May at 9 a.m. in the New Spiral at the Prague Exhibition Centre. The CzechInvest agency is also a partner of the event, which is intended for experts from public administration, industry, education, culture and the innovation environment.

During panel discussions and presentations, experts will present inspiring examples of innovation and creative centres not only from the Czech Republic, but also from Portugal, Austria and Scotland. The keynote address will be given by Caroline Parkinson from the Edinburgh Futures Institute, who will focus on how support and collaboration in the cultural and creative sector contribute to the revitalisation of regions, increase public interest, generate economic benefits and help regenerate places and shape their identity. Other guests will include Karel Havlicek, lead author of the government’s 2019-2030 strategy Czech Republic: The Country For The Future. He will present his vision for the future, this time focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation.

Participation is free of charge after prior registration on the conference website.

The conference will open a debate on how to turn the Czech Republic into a knowledge and innovation centre. The first edition of the event will draw attention to an often neglected but crucial driver of innovation – the creative and cultural industries along with open workshops. It will focus on the possibilities of cooperation between public administration, open workshop managers, entrepreneurs and creatives in supporting economic and social development.

Petra Kneslová, Director of the Creative Hub Technological Incubation, and René Samek, Director of the Innovation Department of the CzechInvest Agency, will be part of the closed meetings focused on regional innovation strategy and the future of the cultural and creative industries in the Czech Republic.

The programme will also offer a pitching session at the L4F Investment Forum, where SMEs will present their business plans to an expert panel. Among the presenters will be Graphic Standard, the winner of the Czech round of the Creative Business Cup 2025 competition.

The Creative Hub, which operates within the Technology Incubation, focuses on the development of startups in the cultural and creative industries. Its aim is to connect institutions, organisations and companies across government, public, private and academic spheres. It creates an environment where ideas meet, experiences are shared, new projects are created and a sustainable ecosystem for CultTech business development is formed.

I can’t miss it!
